Haven't posted here in quite some time! I do apologize! I'll go ahead and inform you on all of the mermaid goings on in my life!
First up is Mermista! I've had her MOC for ages, but I've always wanted her loose as well. I was lucky and found her listed as a Golden Girl on the bay, so I got her for a killer deal!

Not only did she come with her tail(which is in fantastic shape!) and shell backpack, but the head peice and shield to the Deep Blue Secret fashion were included! Talk about bonus!

Next in line, waiting to be talked about are those Mermaids from Multi Toy Corps(the official company name, I now know.) First up in this category is the doll I bought most recently!
I have missed out on 2 others in this style and wasn't about to lose her! Plus she is a red head and the others were blondes, so she's a little more exciting. The fabric of her tail is actually really neat, and I love her shoulder skirt? haha! What would be the right word for that thing? I wasn't really interested in the 11 1/2" dolls from this line before, but now that I have one, I really would love more.
And I also bought this fashion not too long ago. It would fit her, if I were to open them.
The box is quite big really, and I just love the artwork for this line! I wish there was more variety though. It's the same picture on everything. I still REALLY want the lace bodysuit/tail from this line!
I also spotted one of the Non Poseable Mermaids AKA "Pretty Little Mermaids With Long Beautiful Hair", as the package states. She was in a lot with some other mermaids, including two My Pretty Mermaids by PlaySkool, so I had to pay a little bit to win her. If you'll recall this previous entry I mentioned that the artwork on the backcards of some of the fashions actually depicted the Non Poseables. So, according to that artwork my new Mermaid is named Pixie:
She's one I haven't seen before so I was really excited! The green of her fins and top is really pretty! and I love her pose! I also took some new pictures of my other two Non Poseables near their picture/name. Ruby:
 Star:

Even more recently- two Pretty Poseables popped up! They were listed as BIN or Best Offer. So I thought I'd try to haggle a bit, thinking nobody else on the planet would be interested in this cheap line of mermaids that I'm in love with. I now deeply regret making the offers. While I was waiting to hear if my offers had been accepted somebody bought one of them! *sniffle* When I realized this, I quickly bought the second one. The one I missed out on is this one:
I really love the light purple of her hair. It's so pretty. When I was younger I had one with this same body, only she had blue hair. Aaand the one I won:
I'm so excited to finally have one of these in my collection! These were a staple in my childhood playtime! I'm glad she has the pretty face mold! I must admit of the few face molds used for this line, this is the only one that isn't ugly. Haha! Not that I love the line any less. And one more note on Pretty Poseables. Just a few days ago a lot of 4 was sold on eBay! Again, I wasn't expecting any competition in bidding, but I ended up losing! Ah well. More will come along. I'm happy just to see more!
I've seen all of these before. The only difference is the blonde on the far right. I've only seen blue hair and purple hair on that body previously.
Now then! I was going to talk about a few other mermaids in this entry, but I'm tired, and this is a pretty lengthy entry already, so those will have to wait until later. Bai! ^-^

Lets see, where to start? Where to start? Ok! Exciting news! My favorite Mermaid Fashion from the "Mermaids" line by Multi Toys showed up on eBay recently! It's the Lacy body suit tail, complete with bra and panties!!! I can't express to you how much I love this thing! Mermaid lingerie! It wasn't being sold alone either! It was included in a lot of 2 "Mermaids" fashions. Here's the auction picture, look at it in all it's lacy glory!
These fashions were made to fit 11 1/2" dolls, while the 3 I own from this line are made to fit 9 1/2" dolls. Sadly, I couldn't bid. There were some FAR more important things I had to spend my money on at the time. *sigh* I'll keep my eyes open for it to show up again one day.
Then I spied one of the Pretty Poseables in a lot, but couldn't bid for the same reason I already stated. It's not a huge loss. I'm sure I'll find her again one day, but it was still exciting to see one that was up for grabs.

And for the final bit of "Mermaids" news, pikapal on the Ghost of the Doll forum found and scanned the package that the non-poseable mermaids came in. Front:
 Back:
I love the packaging! The little window is cute and gives you a good idea of what your mermaid looks like, while saving a little bit of surprise for when you open her.
Now, I've recently re-discovered another cheap line of mermaid dolls. The line is called "Mermaid Princess" I was never really into these dolls when I was little, but I do remember seeing them in stores. These first images are of dolls I was never into and am still not really into. They're just not my style, however they are the style I remember most vividly. They seemed to ALWAYS be at a local grocery store. They are the "Bathtub Mermaids"
 eh.
Ok for some reason they've begun to grow on me just from looking at these pictures again. haha! Maybe I'll collect them.
And then there's this deluxe set. Apparently it was a Toys R' Us Exclusive:
Please note that 2 of the above images came from this thread on the Ghost of the Doll forum. The other two were stolen from an eBay auction.
Now for the "Mermaid Princess" dolls that I'm sure I want to collect! These Barbie-like dolls:

I know for sure that there is also a pink haired version. In fact, I'm near positive that every version of the "Mermaid Princess" dolls have only 3 variations. Blonde, purple haired, and pink haired. You can see from the back of the box of the "Bathtime Mermaid" that there are only those 3, and I've only seen those 3 hair colors on the Barbie-like dolls. One thing that attracted me to these dolls is that there were separate fashions sold in the line. I guess I've become a sucker for mermaid fashions. The fashions aren't particularly great or anything, in fact they're rather plain. Here are the ones I've seen thus far:
Sorry for the terrible eBay lot photos. I'm hoping to buy these. If I do then I'll surely upload much better images for everyone. We'll see what happens. And here is the last fashion pack I've come across. It's a tripler!
This image was taken from 100 Barbies
One more interesting thing about the Barbie-like dolls is that dolls using the same mold have been for sale recently. Even down to the same brush mold. The new dolls are called "Dreamgirl Mermaid Princess"
They're slightly less attractive to me, but I might want to have them one day. Here's the pink haired "Dreamgirl" version:

And now for the final leg (that I know of) from the T&T "Mermaid Princess" line! The side sitting mermaids! I had the blonde version of these when I was young. I still have no clue what these are actually called. I wasn't sure if they were part of the line or not, but after realizing that they are marked with T&T, like the other dolls I'm 100% sure they are an extension of this line. I've yet to come across a boxed/carded version, but everything about them screams "I'm from the Mermaid Princess line!!" I have only seen pink, blonde, and purple haired versions, like both dolls above. Here is the purple version:
And here are the two from my personal collection, the pink and blonde versions:
As you can see there are 2 VERY similar dolls sitting next to them. The two dolls on the right are new dolls using a variation of the sitting mermaid mold. These new dolls are simply called "Pretty Mermaid" and are extremely cheap. They have bigger, flatter fins, longer torsos, different head molds, much thinner hair, and are made with much cheaper materials. There is a menagerie of colors. I'd like to get a few more of them. I think it's so weird and neat that these cheapies from the 90's are just now getting knock offs!
And now for one more doll!
She's a mystery side sitter! She almost looks like an anime version. Maybe she's a Japanese knock off. Considering the fact that she is in a lot of 90's mermaid items I'd guess she is also from the 90's. Maybe the Mermaid Princesses are a knock off of her! Who knows? Her fin does not match those of the Mermaid Princesses or the Pretty Mermaids. All 3 versions have different fins and heads and she has different arms from the other two. I hope I can find out more info about her!
***If you have any more information on, or images of ANY of the mermaids discussed in this journal please contact me!!!
I've been preparing for a long time to write a journal about "Saban's Adventures of the Little Mermaid" Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. Keep checking back!

I managed to snag a few really fun mermaid themed doll fashions recently and I'm ecstatic about them!
The first one is by Totsy and is called "Mermaid Fantasy Duo Fashions"
The Mermaid Fantasy fashion is so much fun! I love everything about it! One thing you might not notice from the picture is that the tail is actually lace. That's right! One thin, see-through layer of lace! I love it! It's like mer-lingerie! Totsy sure is thorough. This thing is loaded with fun little cheapie accessories! The set includes the over-bust mermaid tail, human dress (which looks to be sailor themed and I think is so cute!), high heels, as well as two different bags, earrings, and 3 "Sea Treasures for you and your doll". The "Sea Treasures" being plastic charms of a seahorse, clam shell, and starfish that may act as bracelets on a doll or may clip onto your own charm bracelet. I'd love to know if there were more "Mermaid Fantasy" fashions, or if this was the only one. If you know, let me know!
The next 3 mer-fashions are from the "Mermaids" line by MT aka Multi Toys Corp. (confirmed since I now have these fashions) I would have never guessed that the simple small mermaid dolls/figures I posted about before would belong to such an extensive line of "Mermaids" items. The mermaid dolls/figures I'm referring to are: here Anyway! The 3 fashions I have obtained from the line are for 9 1/2" dolls. I assume that means they were made to fit your Ariel dolls that Tyco was producing at the time.
The first one is in a box, rather than on a card Maybe it's supposed to be more deluxe than the next two
I really think the top is mostly ugly and the seam between the tail and fin is ugly too. But as a whole it's an interesting take on mermaid fashion. It also includes a brush and comb as well as what I think is a headband. The most exciting part of this one is the back!
Just look at all those 11 and 1/2" Mermaids!(which will not fit into the fashion contained). The bottom states "Mermaid Fashions Sold Separately Collect Them All!" I'm not sure if that means the dolls are wearing the fashions that are sold separately or if that is advertising the 9 and 1/2" fashions. Apparently full body lace mermaid tails were a trend in the 90's! Look at the girl on the right in the middle! So sexy! All lace! Now direct your attention to the gal at middle left. I say this because I recently stumbled across this image:
As you can see Ariel is wearing a very similar fashion. It's clearly from this line. And while we're on the subject of 11 and 1/2" MT Mermaids, here are two images of them that I've come across:

At first I wasn't too interested in these, but after seeing the fashions sold separately, I'd really like to get my hands on some of these. I love the entire line, not because it's well made or designed, but because it's simply interesting.
The next fashion I've obtained looks a little bit like it is supposed to be a bride outfit. I'm really not sure if that is the goal or not. The headpiece kinda resembles a veil, but one can never know.
I actually really like the top. The design of it is cute.
The second is a purple little mer-number.
Not much to say about this one. It's not really pretty or cute in my opinion, and the color is gross, but it's still fun! And fun is all that counts, right? Each of these two sets also include a brush, as you can see.
The back of the card for these fashions states "Also Available: 4" Poseable Mermaids with Combable Hair" and depicts a color-me type image of 12 mermaids. The 4" mermaids it's advertising are these:
However, the mermaids pictured actually (to my surprise) match the non-poseable mermaids I've mentioned before.
The mermaids all look essentially the same except for their shells/bras/whatever else that covers their breasts. It's the top each mermaid wears that identifies them as the non-poseable Mermaids.
I might add in that I found someone on Flickr who owns 5 of these Mermaids. I'm jealous and stole her images so you can see them here. Anyway! They all have REALLY original names like Shellie and Jewel:
Also note! I just noticed that Shellie has a belt with a dangly thing in front which is also depicted in the picture.
Next up is Emerald:
The starfish on her hip is depicted in the image, as well as the detailing of her shells. I have no idea why her name is Emerald when there's nothing emerald about her.
This blue-haired vixen could either be Bubbles or Diamond:
Both Bubbles and Diamond's tops are similar to her's. I'd say Diamond's is closer in shape, but Bubbles' does not have any straps. Bubble's tail also shows some kind of design near the top, which is similar to the light paint on the blue haired girl's. If I had to guess I'd say she is actually Bubbles, but I can't be 100% sure.
Next up is one from my collection. Her name is Ruby
She is the only mermaid with any kind of sleeve in the picture. Again, there is nothing ruby about her. But what's in a name anyway?
And finally we have who must be Star:

The first belongs to MeredithNo from Flickr and the other two belong to me. As you can see all 3 are different, however all 3 have some form of red hair. I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, if Multi Toys paid much attention as to which head mold or hair color went on which body, if each mermaid actually had a color scheme that they tried to stick to, or if random heads were placed on random bodies. Yup, I'm obsessed with the entire Mermaids line from Multi Toys from the 4" posables to the 11 and 1/2" fashion dolls! If you've got any to sell or show, please do!

You may want to read my first entry about these mermaids Here
Today in the mail I received 2 Mermaid Magic figures! I documented my experience for all of you to enjoy! These are no longer sold in the US so these 2 came from the UK. They cost me just under $5.00 each plus shipping. I believe the total was around $17. A bit steep, but I really want to collect all of these and that is the cheapest price I have found online in a long time.

First shell goes in! The UK shells are a lot more fizzy and less foamy than the US versions were. I remember the foam overflowing the pool back when I did this with the US versions.

The mermaid is revealed, and unfortunately is a double. She is known as Calla on the US back-card and Felicity on the UK back-card.

The first shell has left the water an orangy-pinky color. Second shell is ready.

In goes the second shell!

To reveal yet another double. Dangit! Floating upside down is Mirabel(US) AKA Shelly(UK)

While I would have liked to get different mermaids this wasn't a complete loss! Turns out the UK and US versions vary in other ways than their names! First off, the UK versions are a softer plastic (more rubbery/flexible), their heads can't turn (or at least not easily, like the US versions),their paint is a bit shinier, and their eyes are slightly different with much thicker eyelashes. The UK versions match the pictures on the back-cards of both versions. Now for some individual variation comparisons! Here are Calla and Felicity.
It is true that Calla(US)'s changing color paint has faded quite a bit and is actually nearly gone, but Felicity(UK)'s color is still much darker than Calla's ever was. Felicity's gold accents are a much darker gold. Felicity's ear-fin things and gauntlets are a lighter green. Felicity has slightly tanner skin, and their hair color varies slightly. Their tail in warm water is about the same color.
Now for Mirabel and Shelly
As you can see Shelly(UK) has a red/pink color for her color changing tail, while Mirabel(US) has an orange color, and their hair is quite a bit different in color. Actually everything else are slightly different colored, but it might be difficult to tell in the picture. Of these two, the UK version has a lighter skin tone. Their tails seem to be the same color in warm water, except Shelly has a slight pink tint to hers. Since it is quite easy to turn the US version's heads, I did so with Mirabel, because I thought it looked better for the picture.
Thought I'd go ahead and post a packaging comparison picture as well. Mermaid Surprise=US and Mermaid Magic=UK

Here are the images and names from the back of the cards
The Mermaid Magic(UK) card's images are quite a bit larger and take up most of the back, which is nice. As you can see, Mermaid Magic also has a Rarity guide and a point system. You go to the website (which no longer exists or possibly never did) where you could fill out a score sheet and print a full color certificate.
Got some of these to sell? I'm interested. Have a collection? I'd love to see it!
And even though you can see them in my other journal entry, here is my collection minus the two new ones:

Sugar Planet? I'll be on the first rocket there, thanks! Sugar Planet was a small line of dolls by MGA in 2002-2003. There isn't much info online about them and they seem to be kind of rare. They have a similar look to Bratz and Yummi-Land. Each doll came with a charm bracelet and charms, lip gloss, a separate bottom, and a pet. There were a few different types of Sugar Planet dolls. The 2002 line included Frozen Candy, MMMermaids, and Tropical Punch. I have collected only the MMMermaids. I'm not too interested in the others. For Christmas one year (I assume 2002) I got two of the MMMermaids. Here is Sianna with her pet Zoe. They came with the large playset of the MMMermaids.

The other MMMermaid I got that year was Princess Malah. She didn't come with any kind of playset. Sadly, I don't know the name of her pet fish.

There was also a small series of books and even though Princess Malah didn't get a playset, the MMMermaid book is based on her.
The third and final Sugar Planet MMMermaid in the series is Princess Syrene and her pet Seastar. They came with a seashell purse playset. I lucked out and found this one just a little while ago on ebay. The seller didn't know what they were so they just listed it as "Mermaid seashell playset" or something so I won it for cheap. But it was in the UK so shipping was like $10. She's missing her crown, bracelet, charms, and the lid to her lip gloss. I'd really like to have her crown, bracelet, and charms, so lemme know if you see them somewhere!

There are only two things I do not like about these dolls. The first is that Princess Malah's tail/skirt are really difficult to get on/off. But the thing I really don't like is that they are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE! gah! Why?!
As always visit my flickr if you want to see more pictures!
